A large area of Jln Bahar is restricted for the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) live firing exercises and the Singapore Civil Defence' (SCDF) Basic Rescue Training (BRT) exercises. Nearby this restricted area is Choa Chu Kang cemetery, an area that is widely-believed to be one of Singapore's haunted places. There is not much to do here except for perhaps cycling and pottery-making at Jalan Bahar Clay Studios (JBCS). There are several educational institutions here namely Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National Institute of Education (NIE).
