So the first time a baby comes most new parents get a ton of advice from all over -- friends, family, strangers you meet in the elevator; all telling you what is good for the expected newcomer. With all that advice, if you read this, I can give you my two cents. The following will be some info for you I have, as a former new parent, on new parents buying baby clothes. Hopefully it will be of use; if not, oh well, keep taking grandma's advice.

Making It Easy Access

One thing to keep in mind is that an infant requires the most basic, but intensive, care. All that anticipation and worry just for the little poop machine, who would have worried so much in hindsight? But of course there is much more to your baby than that.

But just like the simplicity in the babies function, the baby clothes ought to be something that simplifies your life. In other words, you need to have something with easy access to change diapers. This will be part of your life, like brushing your teeth, for the next 2 or 3 years or so.

Snap clothing is definitely the thing to buy for infants. Of course, you are undoubtedly seeing a lot of that shopping around and there is good reason for that. For convenient changing, there should be snaps or easy releases through the legs and around the neck area where the shirt can be pulled on and off with the release of a few snaps. Frilly ties and buttons may just delay you in the process and simply be a major pain if you are trying to change in an awkward place shopping, or in the back car seat.

Buy Big

A human grows the fastest when they are babes. All that milk fat and sleeping isn't just because the kid is resting from all that kicking in the womb; it's to fuel the huge amount of sprouting in the next year or so.

So when you start finding baby clothes you want, use that factor to help you budget your spending. Stock up on the 3-6 months range when you go shopping too. Especially if you have a family history of big babies, those 0-3 sizes will be moot in no time.

Time Your Shopping

When you discover that you or your spouse is pregnant, it can have a tendency to result rash decision making, like running out to shop for seasonal baby gear. Stop right there and take a deep breath. You've got a full nine months before baby comes along and that the nice warm Halloween gear won't look nearly as cute in June or July.

Even though it's starting to get colder in October, by the time baby is born it will be the hottest time of the year. Buy baby clothes to match the birth date, not the conception date.
