In 1867, United States Secretary of State William H. Seward signed an agreement with Russia in which the United States purchased the territory of Alaska from them. But hold on, if you breakdown the purchase price of $7.2 million and divide it by the number of acres purchased, the entire purchase amounted to less than 2 cents an acre. Pretty good for those days and especially good now today when real estate values have soared. Where else can you get a bargain like that?
