It is the set of skills that can determine that choice between two people after a job interview. Today's world is very competitive and most companies are looking for people who are knowledgeable in their field, people who are pleasant to work with and people who bring something more to their business.
There are three types of skills-knowledge based skills, the personal traits and the transferable skills.
1) Knowledge based skills- these include seminars attended, education, other forms of training and anything learnt from experience. Communication and computer skills would also be under this heading as well as marketing, managerial experience and product development. There may be other items depending on the industry involved.
2) Transferable or portable skills- This is the answer to the question “What could you bring to this company?” Companies are looking for someone who can add to their environment and workforce. These skills include problem solving, writing and communication, team lead potential, time management, customer service skills, budgeting and accounting skills. These skill sets vary depending on the person.
3) Your personal traits give the interviewer an insight into how you will fit in their environment. If you are asked to talk about yourself they will be judging whether you are the right candidate for the job. Traits such as organizational skills, analytical skills, goal orientation, judgment, creativity and flexibility are looked for. You have a limited time frame to find ways to showcase your skills without bragging.
* Self assessment-list all the skills you have gained from each of your previous jobs (use your resume as a resource). Make a list of three traits, personal, knowledgeable based and transferable. Next, write a script or a commercial.
With this commercial, you will be prepared to meet the interviewer. Make sure you use words that are direct, clear and concise. Don't forget to add your technical skills. Skills such as confidence, flexibility, problem solving, leadership and energy are attractive to any company.
By highlighting you strengths during and interview you could increase your chances of landing the jobs.
Importance Of Speaking Skills
In addition to improving the flexibility of your joints and muscles, stretching has a number of benefits that will improve your life. Flexibility is one of the keys to a long and healthy enjoyment of any sport. When your muscles are flexible, your posture improves and you have less problems accomplishing everyday tasks.
By being mindful of how your body reacts to stretching, you will gain increased body awareness. Another benefit of flexibility is a large increase in energy. When your muscles are tense, circulation is reduced and waste products are produced in the muscle due to a lack of oxygen. You will now feel really tired and your muscles will be sore. Stretching regularly improves circulation, providing necessary nutrition to the muscles and taking away harmful waste products. You will now feel better and have more energy.
Stretching can also be a meditative activity that can improve your general focus. When stretching, concentrate not only on loosening your muscles, but on synchronizing your breathing with your movements. Deep breathing increases your stretches, allowing your body to fully relax. It also generates a calmness in your mind that enhances concentration and reduces the chatter that builds up in your head regularly.
Stress is often manifested in our bodies as tightness. Stiff neck, sore back, tight hamstrings, chronic headaches and hunched shoulders are all signs of an overload of stress. By taking ten or fifteen minutes a day stretching and working on problem areas, your general stress levels will be reduced. If you find yourself stressed out, take a moment and target where in your body the stress is accumulating and do two or three fast stretches for immediate relief.
If done daily, stretching can also reduce "day after" muscle soreness. As you get older and your body takes longer to recover from workouts, this will increasingly be a gift to your sore muscles. With regular stretching and exercise, much of the age related decline in flexibility can be prevented or even reversed. If you are older and have been inactive, it may take some work but stick with it. In time, you can attain the same level of flexibility you had in your twenties and thirties.
In summary, most people do not realize all of the benefits of stretching. As well as the obvious benefits, stretching improves your energy level, focus, body awareness and overall fitness level. Start today and put a good stretching routine into your workout or any time of the day.
