Specialty Foods For The Armchair Gourmet
By. Steven Stallard
Giving the gift of gourmet food has been popular for generations. These foods have been known to bring out the closet chef in just about everyone which produces some amazing results with little effort in the kitchen. They make great gifts for nearly types of peole and are received with greatenthusiasm and joy.

Most believe that a gourmet dining experience can only be found in restaurants. It does not take a culinary degree to work this magic at home. Gourmet home cooking is a growing new trend. everyday there are more and more products available to can take your average meal to a five star entree with little effot.

While gourmet or specialty food stores are an excellent way to shop for your favorite ingredients and foods, most can be accessed through online gourmet food websites. If you know eactly what product you ar looking for this is a more convenient alternative to driving to the store. The money you save on gas will help pay for the usually higher priced items.

While gourmet does sends the mesage of expensive and elite, that is not always the case. Don't worry if you are on a budget. Many gourmet food items can be found in your local grocery store at prices tht will still fit into your overall food allowance.

Gourmet foods can be healthy for you too, more so than the alternatives. A majority of ingredients found in gourmet foods are naturally wholesome, additive free, vegetarian (you can always add meat if you like) and low fat.

Some of this authors favorite foods are wild steelhead roe, flavored maple syrup; 100% pure maple syrup, especially when aged in old bourbon barrels. Exotic spice mixtures for barbeque and seasoning dishes, aged vinegars to add a truley unique flavor to salads and other vegetable dishes, and albacore tuna that is caught while young by trolling methods. The mercury level is considerably lower and the meat considerably taster.

Gourmet foods have a bolder flavor and tend to be fresher due to the lower volume produced and delivered to the stores. You will find that these foods are the center of discussion at meals where they are utilized and served.

They are foods that people most likely would only eat on special occasions. But you can, with little effort, take your home cooking to a new level with high quality, gourmet ingredients.

Don't think that your weekday meal has to be a bland rerun of last week. With the right products and some "armchair gourmet chef " creativity, you can impress your family and frieds with a dish that they are sure to remember.
