High Fiber Foods Don?t Necessarily Mean Gas And Bloating
By. Brandon H. Masters

Everyone will admit that flatulence is embarassing, uncomfortable and humiliating. However, the real issue involved with gas buildup is the reality that food is not being properly digested. This is a huge potential health risk. Poorly digested foods petrify and ferment in the gut increasing the risk of many digestive degenerative diseases.

Digestion is the process of converting food into an absorbable form. Good digestion is the key to good health.

Our great grandparents seriously valued roughage (fiber) in their diets. Dietary fashions change and the importance of fiber has taken a back seat. Despite this, fiber remains an important nutrient and a fundamental part of healthy eating. Research has blamed the high incidence of heart disease, diabetes, bowel disease, hernia, haemorrhoids and diverticulitis in western countries on a lack of dietary fiber in the diet.

It is now recommended by the experts that we should eat a high fiber diet containing 35 grams of fiber daily. Despite this recommendation the average American probably only eats between twelve and fifteen grams a day.

We usually avoid high fiber diets because we are afraid it will increase gas levels, lead to bowel disturbances and bloating. This does not have to be the case. As a matter of fact eating fiber will help the normal detoxification processes, normalize your bowel and support maintenance of a healthy weight and as seen above and prevent bowel diseases.

Digestion is one of the main reference points for gauging one's overall health and is one of the primal forces of life. Poor digestion is affecting an ever increasing number of people that have allowed the fast pace of life to take precedence over their health.

The majority of people do not eat enough fiber. Fiber is a miracle nutrient because it cleanses the digestive system and simultaneously absorbs toxins. If your body has trouble digesting some roughage I would suggest that you supplement with digestive enzymes. These catalysts will break down the food for you and often prevent the gas buildup that you have experienced in the past.

Excessive flatulence and poor digestive health are partners. Follow the suggestions in this article to get back in control of your digestion.
