The Basic to Baking a Cake

Whether you are just starting out baking cakes, or an experienced cook, you will need to make sure you have the specialized cake baking tools the task requires. If you have an otherwise well equipped kitchen, but typically don't bake, you likely will not have the equipment you need. Baking adds another dimension to your cooking skills, and is especially useful for special occasions.
The first essential is mixing bowls. They come in stainless steel, glass or ceramic. You may have a personal preference; all are effective. You can never have too many mixing bowls, and you will want to have them in many sizes from big too small. For more resources kindly visit us at www.fair-recipes.com. Chances are you can find a stacking set that are easy to store yet provide you with many options.
One thing you will certainly need is a selection of cake pans. Cake pans come in many varieties, and materials, ranging from simple disposable aluminum to clay Bakeware. Generally speaking, the heavier the cake pans are the better quality they most likely are.
You may want to consider cake pans with nonstick coatings as your choice of cake baking tools. Nonstick coatings will make for cake pans that easily release the cake and clean up rather simply also. You will thus be able to remove the cake from the cake pan without spoiling the top.
Another innovative type of cake pans has removable bottoms. This makes getting the cake out of the pan a lot easier. Like all cake pans, these cake baking tools are available in a variety of sizes and shapes. You should have a few basic sizes of cake pans you will need 8 inch and 9 inch cake pans in your collection of cake baking tools, as well as an 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish.
Measuring cups and measuring spoons are another essential element of your collection of cake baking tools. Your measuring spoons should be flat and narrow enough to easily slip into spice jars. A curved handle is also a significant advantage as it will allow your measuring spoon to sit on a counter without tipping over, thus allowing you to fill the spoon and set it down.
When choosing measuring cups, you will most likely want a set of simple measuring cups and a Pyrex measuring cup. Pyrex is special heat and microwave proof glass, and thus a very versatile addition to your cake baking tools. You will want to have more than one of these, as you will find that you often use more than one at a time.
No set of cake baking tools is complete without a rolling pin. They range in material from traditional wooden rolling pins to sleek aluminum ones. The advantage of the aluminum rolling pin is that you can chill it in the fridge. If you chill it for about fifteen minutes before you use it, you will find that it will roll out even very sticky dough easily. If you opt to add an aluminum rolling pin to your cake baking tools, choose one that is small and thin so it will fit in the refrigerator easily.
What set of cake baking tools would be compete without an adequate selection of spatulas? Spatulas come in various sizes and are made from various materials including wood, stainless steel and plastic. A giant spatula, about ten inches by ten inches, is especially useful. You can also go to www.chicken-wing-cookbook.com. You can use it to move around freshly rolled dough, and you don't have to risk having the dough tear from its own weight, as might happen if you wrap the dough around a rolling pin in an attempt to move it.
You will also want a selection of other cake baking tools, including a hand held mixer; at least two wire cake racks, and toothpicks for testing to see if your cake is done. Additionally, you will need a kitchen scale, parchment paper and a kitchen timer. Once you have the proper equipment, you will be well on your way to achieving your cake baking goals.
