Looking for some traditional authentic French cuisine? You need not look further than Le Bouchon. This unsuspecting French restaurant is nestled at the corner of Changkat Bukit Bintang (within walking distance from Bintang Walk) and boasts an extensive menu filled with authentic French delights, complete with its very difficult to pronounce French names and very detailed English descriptions.
Le Bouchon is a charming restaurant that might seem a little tight for space. It is cosy, cute and has a homely feel to it. Hats off to the rustic cottage-like interior that just exudes comfort and warmth. The wooden interior and the soft earth colours are inviting and pleasant to the eye. It's almost as if you've been transported to the French countryside minus the farm animals in the garden. The simple table setting with white table cloths and the silverware gives the restaurant a classy feel to it amidst the charm of the raw brick walls and wooden panelling. Bottles of wine are neatly laid out along the shelves without looking too intimidating.
What better way to begin a meal than with a starter and we recommend La Salade Aue Deux Saumons Et Croisillons Toastes, which is loosely translated to Smoked Salmon. It is best eaten with the toasted sour dough bread that is served with it. The smooth and creamy texture of this dish makes it light and easy to handle. La Bisque De Crevettes Safranee, the Prawn Bisque, is also a crowd pleaser. It is literally bursting with prawn flavour and is complimented with a dash of saffron.
There's no reason to visit a French restaurant and not sample authentic French dishes. Le Foie Gras Aux Raisins et Pommes Fondantes would be a wise choice. You guessed it… Foie Gras translates to goose liver and it is pan fried and served with grape and apple glace. The best way to savour this dish is when it is hot, hot, hot. That way, the oil from the goose liver isn't coagulated and cold. This absolutely unhealthy dish is a must try to all French food virgins and even if you don't enjoy it, you can at least say that you've tried it. If you're a lover of goose liver, you'll fall in love with it even more.
After all the teasing by the starters, it is time to move on to the mains. Les Medallions De Boeuf a la Fourme D'Ambert et Aux Nox is both a mouthful to say and a mouthful to eat. It is beef medallions with blue cheese sauce and walnut. One bite of the beef and it will melt in your mouth while you melt in your seat. It is extremely tender and moist with its original juices locked in. The other recommended dish would be Le Confit De Canard et Ses Pommes Fondantes, the duck leg confit. Its crispy on the outside and moist on the inside and it is absolutely delicious. Better yet, it is topped with goose liver so there's no need to order the Foie Gras to sample the goose liver.
To wrap up an already astounding (and not to mention filling) meal, try the caramelized apple tarts. It basically looks like an upside down tart and if you'd like to know the story behind it, ask for Philippe and he will gladly play the role of story teller. It is a bit sweet so diabetics be warned.
There's good service all around. The staff is extremely attentive without being intrusive. Food is served without delay. Mr.Philippe, the Executive Director of Le Bouchon is a barrel of laughs as well. Armed with his humour and his friendly demeanour, he sets out to provide personal attention to his clientele.

Overall, it was a pleasure to dine at Le Bouchon. Prices might be a bit steep but its worth it. a three course meal with the Foie Gras (RM72), the Beef Medallion (RM88) and the caramelized apple tarts (RM18) is a meal fit for kings. You'll also be treated like one by the attentive service staff. We're still falling in love with the rustic French countryside interior and the warmth and hospitality of the staff.
