If you look up the busy road of Kemang on an average evening, what you will see through the clear glass of a cosy little place is some people sipping their coffees on comfy sofas. That joint is called Casa Café, located right above Aksara Book Store. It’s a brand new thing for the Kemang scene!
Step up the wooden stairways and you will see one computer (while I was there, it was broken), with a bright-colored Vespa welcoming you. Minimalist décor, with wooden floors and chairs served to create a natural atmosphere and it is combined with white sofas and clear glass wall designs making the place look more spacious. On the left side is the bar, with huge wordings on the wall.
When I went there, I felt that a plate of fettuccini and a glass of ice cappuccino was a good combination to ease the little headache I was having. I went there with a friend and she ordered herself a plate of Caesar Salad as she wanted something light. I like the way they did up their menu. Right above each list there is a quote from a famous person about food or drinks. For instance, there was one quote from Benjamin Franklin, “Wine makes daily life easier, less hurried, with fewer tension and more tolerance”, or this funny one from Homer Simpson, ”Beer is the cause and solutions to all of life problems”.
On the menu, you will see only a small selection of appetizers but the main courses are quite a catch. If you have no intentions of filling your tummy, maybe you can order yourself a glass of coffee for starters. They have various kinds aside from the original ones. They have latte, espresso, mocha mousse and others, tasty and yet at an affordable price. My cappuccino cost me less than Rp20,000 only! And of course, if coffee is not strong enough, you may wanna choose something else out of the many from the drink list. A glass of beer perhaps? Or a glass of wine? Be my guest!
The fettuccini was okay, and so was the iced cappuccino. Nothing to complain about. But, my friend’s Caesar Salad didn’t even turn up. It seems the waiter had forgotten to written down my friend’s menu. That was quite a disappointment really.
The music is one thing I really do love about this place, although it isn’t live music of course. They play classic disco sounds along with more upbeat stuff as it gets deeper into the night.
