H.C.Caldwell, Senior Sworn Clerk to the Magistrates built the house between 1840 and 1841. He owned the house until August 1852 when he sold it to Father J. M. Beurel, a French priest for 4,000 Spanish dollars. Father Beurel built the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus in 1854. For more info, please refer to : Chijmes
Convent of Holy Infant Jesus Chapel and Caldwell House... Though the name is long, this place came a long way... Imagine what will happen to those poor babies if this chapel doesn't take them in and what kind of methods will the parents resort to taking the poor child's life away... Now it has got Carnivores there and several pubs around. Good place for chilling.
a bustling enclave of retail shops, restaurants and nightspots. An unique eatery found here is the cosplay maid's cafe, whereby staff are dressed as cute japanese maids and serve u ur food. For an evening out, the atmosphere at CHIJMES is exquisitely romantic ;)
Went there once for a wedding dinner. The dinning room is really very beautiful. And its my first time attending a wedding dinner where it is held in a buffet style. A really pleasant experience.
As a national heritage site, there are a number of well-known bars and restaurants here. One of them in particular is the Hongkong-based Lei Garden Restaurant.
