People would drown Chocolate Labradors in order to erase them from the genetic bloodline of Labradors. Because of this cruel act, Chocolate Labrador's genetic line is almost eradicated; which at the same time makes owning one a novelty.
Due to the shortage and scarcity of the Chocolate Labradors gene pool, unscrupulous breeders would cross breed any brown dog just to produce Chocolate Labradors. The result is an unruly and temperamental half-breed Labrador that tainted the reputation of Chocolate Labradors. Purebred Chocolate Labradors are really as good-natured and loving as their Black and Yellow counterparts.
Colors are affected by the genotype of the individuals that were bred. Meaning, it is the parents' genes that determine whether the dogs are Yellow, Black or Chocolate Labradors. A study of Labrador genotypes will show you that it is the allele's that determine a Labrador's pigmentation. If we discuss the science behind all this it will take a book to do so.
The unfortunate thing is that purebred Chocolate Labradors are supposed to be kind, gentle, loving and intelligent. Labradors are generally easy to raise and handle, they do not have the attitude problems that other breeds have. In fact, like the Black and Yellow ones, Chocolate Labradors are resourceful and well balanced. They have high adaptability skills, which is great for training them to learn highly stylized skills.
Now, just because it's different does not mean that Chocolate Labradors are an outcry from the Black and Yellow ones. They all have the same temperaments and degree of intelligence and personality. Some Chocolate Labradors have blue eyes, which makes them absolutely adorable. So, if you're considering of getting a lab then get a Chocolate one.
Play with your Chocolate Labrador, it shows them that you care and love them. They are dependable and even tempered which makes them for a great companion. A Chocolate Labrador is a unique choice of color that will set you apart from other Labrador owners. So, go ahead and get yourself a Chocolate Labrador.
