Newaygo Michigan is a small rural mostly farming and recreational community located in West Michigan, comprising of Kent, Muskegon Ottawa and Newaygo Counties.

Newaygo is the outdoor recreational leader with 100,000 acres of Manistee National Forest, 230 natural lakes, 350 miles of blue ribbon, trout rivers and streams. Enjoy the 4 seasons of year round fun and activities.

The Muskegon River continues to be the main attraction for summer cottage residents and fisherman, who find it nearly the best source for steel head in the spring and salmon in the fall, anywhere in Michigan.

Residents embrace every form of family entertainment, especially boating, hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, tubeing, kayaking and golfing.

Newaygo County has a population of just 47,510 residents, down -5.4%, with a median age of 30 years, and median income of $33,812.

Unemployment in Newaygo is 8.6% with a recent growth rate of 2.5% and a future job growth of .05 and a cost of living index of 83 (National average 100)

Housing in Newaygo is down, as it is in most areas, but has a median home price of $105,000. Many of the homes are on large lots or acreage of 5 or more acres.

A review of the MLS listing service shows that for 105,000 you could purchase a 1,200 square foot, 2 bedroom, 2 bath home on 3.1 acres, a 1,800 square foot, 3bedroom, 2 bath home on 2 acres or a large 2,200 square foot, 2 bedroom home. There are currently about 450 listings available in this price range.

Family values and the quality of life found in Newaygo are second to none. Violent crime is virtually non existent here. Alcohol violations are the major offenses here.
