Among the recent luxury trains of India, the Deccan Odyssey is fashioned on the lines of the Palace of Wheels, India’s first luxury train. The Deccan Odyssey train travel lasts for eight days and takes its privileged passengers to Goa and several destinations across Maharashtra in India.

Goa is famous across the world for its dazzling beaches, churches and rocking nightlife. However, there is much more to Goa than meets the eye. Goa is also home to several wildlife species. One can also enjoy exciting water and adventure sports here. Maharashtra on the other hand is as fast moving as Goa is laid back. The capital city of Maharashtra is Mumbai, the financial capital of the nation. Mumbai is also known for Victorian architecture and Bollywood, the Indian entertainment industry.

Royal exteriors, plush interiors, first rate service and mind blowing destinations are an integral part of this royal ride. The train’s rich azure exteriors are captivating and seem even more majestic as guests are given a traditional welcome before boarding the train. This luxury train has 21 coaches that have been categorized as passenger cars, coupes, presidential suite cars and conference cars. In additions there is also room for staff, dining, generators and the like.

On day 1, passengers board the train from Mumbai and set out on an exciting Kokan adventure. Day 2 has passengers exploring Ratnagiri, Jaigad and Ganpatipule. Ganpatipule is a small village on the shores of a gorgeous beach with sparkling waters. On the next day guests are taken to Sindhudurg, Tarkarli and Sawantwadi. Day 4 is spent exploring the treasures of Goa. Kolhapur and Pune welcome guests on day 5. On day 6 and 7, passengers explore the Ellora and Ajanta Caves. The journey comes a full circle on day 8 when guests are taken back to Mumbai.

The on board facilities on the Deccan Odyssey include channel music, central audio disc player, cell phones, bar, health spa, money exchange, television, conference arrangements, wall to wall carpeting, and attached baths, to mention a few.
