I lost everything when I lost Capel, Capel was a young hockey player and died in December 1919 in an accident, he was Coco Chanels big love, after that Coco never knew any other real love then the love of a designer for its fabrics and designs.

Capel was a rich English business men who loved Coco and gave her a lot of expensive juwels, he helps Coco opening her first shop, a hat shop in Deauville.

After Capels death Coco knew a few other loves, like the duke of Westminster, he even asked her to marry him but she refused and only wanted to design. A result of that is Chanel n°5 that comes out on the market in 1921, up until this day one of the most famous perfumes, Nicole Kidmann once did a commercial about the perfume, it was the most expensive commercial ever made, shown on tv and the movies.

Coco was a smart woman, she use to spray Chanel n°5 in the fitting rooms of her shop, she wasn’t only an artist with great designs but also a business woman.

Ernest Beaux was a Russian perfumer, who made carrier with Rallet, a French perfume business. He ended up in Paris during the Russian October revolution, he met Coco and they decided to cooperate, he gave Coco test series of perfume: from 1 to 5 and from 20 to 24, Coco choose n°5.

Coco managed to sell her perfume in her shop and it was successful but the success became enourmous when sex symbol Marilyn Monroe wore the perfume as well as Andy Warhole, they even mentioned they wear nothing else then Chanel n° 5 in bed.

Chanel n° is the success and was a financial support for the rest of Cocos imperium. It was the first perfume that wasn’t as dole as all the other perfumes for woman, who only had the smell of flowers.
