Keeping in Shape: Fitness Centers In Jakarta
by: Dina Indrasafitri

Amidst the working hours, you feel that you need better ways to exercise than wearing out your fingers by typing pages of nonsense in your computer and getting an adrenaline rush, or probably a minor
heart attack, each time there’s a haggle in the office meeting. Besides, those munchies you consume at regular rate, which is every two and a half minutes while working, certainly do not flatter the figure, even though you are always gorgeous.
Here’s an original idea: spend some time in the fitness center. All right, maybe not very original but it is effective indeed, and it could be a very pleasant experience too, if you are working out in some of the finest fitness centers in Jakarta.

Take the Celebrity Fitness way for example. In Celebrity Fitness, you could work out while experiencing the much-needed entertainment from the flat TV screens installed on the walls and there’s no need to bring your MP3 Players along because in every corner there’s a speaker voicing out tunes for your body to move along with. The cardio theatre is exclusively furnished and there’s even a café and lounge. Celebrity Fitness offers an impressive number of classes like the usual aerobic, Yoga and even body combat. This and the work out-plus-entertainment concept proves to be a very effective way to attract customers because the fitness center could be so packed it sometimes verges on the uncomfortable side.  You can sweat to the tunes at the Celebrity Fitness in Plaza Indonesia EX, Pondok Indah Mall 2, La Piazza, and  mal Puri Indah.

Another option is the Fitness First. This renowned brand of health club operator from UK has decided to spread their healthy messages in Jakarta. Their fitness centers also offer cardio entertainment zones and a lounge. The equipments are superb and you could also sweat happily in the sauna. Fitness First’s branches in Jakarta are located in Plaza Semanggi and Mall Taman Anggrek.

For those who are seriously into body building or just planning on displaying killer abs and biceps during the summer holidays, there’s the Ade Rai Club in Senopati. This fitness and body building center is owned by the famous Indonesian bodybuilder, Ade Rai. The membership fees are sensible and the club also offers special monthly training packages in body building. Quantum Athletic Club in The Menara Imperium, Kuningan and Clark Hatch in the Sari Pan Pacific, Thamrin, are other well equipped fitness centers available in Jakarta so quit complaining about not having places for you to work out in, and you’ll have to find a better excuse than having no time to exercise because the Clark Hatch is open 24 hours!

Many fitness centers are combined with spas, such as the BodySoul Center at 678 Building, Kemang, Fit By Beat, which even provides a café and beauty salon, at Plaza Setiabudi, Kuningan, and LifeSpa & Fitness Center at Saberro House, Kemang. In Dharmawangsa Square, Dharmawangsa, Alila Hotel, Pecenongan and Bapindo center, Sudirman, you could enjoy the luxurious fitness and spa facilities of MyBody Gym.

Grand Odisseus Fitness and Spa offers many location options for your work out, at the Grand Mahakam Hotel in Blok M, the Novotel Hotel in Mangga Dua, La Piazza in Kelapa Gading, Nikko Hotel in Thamrin and lots of other strategic locations. Those in the Northern part of Jakarta could also get their health pumped up at the Atlantic Fitness in Gading Sports Mall, Kelapa Gading.

With so many excellent options available everywhere, there’s practically no need to delay those shaping-up resolutions you’ve made a long time ago. Pack up your training gears and start sweating up to a healthier life!
