I scream for Ice cream is the fitting name of an ice cream parlour on Jalan Hariangbanga in the campus area of Bandung . It has already been in existence for over 20 years and has gained a reputation for its home made es puter, a traditional Indonesian specialty. In 2005, the owners opened a parlour in true Italian style selling both their traditional es puter in new and innovative ice cream flavours.

• The Vibe
  The I scream for Ice Cream parlour is housed in a colonial building, with a small sitting area outside and an ice cream counter inside. The décor is reminiscent of Italian ice cream parlours with the original colonial tiled floor still in tact, stained glass windows and iron chairs and tables. The parlour attracts two kinds of customers. Firstly, the long time regulars who appreciate the traditional es puter and secondly, the students who crave for the newer creations on offer.

• The Food
  Es Puter is made of coconut milk and has a distinct flavour that is different from regular ice cream. The first flavour to be devoured was the nangka lollypop (Rp. 2,500) which was creamy soft, with real chunks of fresh jackfruit. The coconut cup (Rp. 2,500) was also a treat with a soft coconut flavour. Es Puter is in general softer than ice cream and has a smoother texture. All creations of this parlour are made with real fruit and without preservatives and additives, making the flavours come alive and the ice cream a lot healthier than your regular scoop.

  Next course was an introduction to taste heaven with a combination of peanut butter fudge (peanut butter ice cream with chocolate chips), wakie wake (espresso ice cream with chocolate chunks), snow flake (white chocolate ice cream with white chocolate chips) and pistachio (4 scoops + 2 toppings Rp. 20,000). This proved to be a true revelation in ice cream tasting as the scoops each having their own distinct flavour and chock full of chocolate chunks. With every order, you have the choice of several toppings such as chocolate or strawberry sauce, nuts and M&M's. Again, the fresh ingredients allow for spoons full of taste bud pleasure.

• The Service
  The staff are friendly and know all the ins and outs on ice cream. Before you make your final choice, you have the opportunity to taste every flavour until you find the right one for you. There are monthly specials such as strawberry sorbets and the ice creams on offer vary according to the fruit in season.

SD's personal take on I Scream for Ice Cream
Not being a huge fan of ice cream myself, I now have to take back all those years of dismissing this freezing food stuff as bland and boring. I simply hadn't tasted the real thing yet! This little parlour is on a whole other level and their creations are both inventive and addictive. Thumbs up for this home made heaven.
