Not just another bistro, Eastern Promise is the new definition of multi-cultural. With offerings that can rival restaurants and bars, the joint is cool enough for a wind-down beer and also fancy enough for your dinner date. The laughter keeps rolling and the good-natured feeling will last till you get home.
- The Vibe
The Eastern Promise has two entrances, with one leading to the pub and the smaller one leading to the restaurant. Giving a fusion appeal with the common décor of an English pub, there are wooden panels, antiques and posters with a sports theme all around. Generally masculine in its presentation, the amalgamation of British-Indian affair gives the place a family-themed feel.
Segregated into three sections, the pub comes complete with a pool table, playing up on its sporty edge. The restaurant is located in front of a restaurant, to give your dinner a view. The wi-fi connection and the daily dosage of the British newspaper, Guardian, ensures that you will always remain connected to the rest of the world.
With a crowd of both families and an after-work crowd, the Eastern Promise is tamed enough for your son's 3 rd birthday and your buddy's bachelor party.
- The Food
While you have heard of Pan Asian models, Eastern Promise provides British-Indian food. While the dishes may be found in most classic Indian restaurants, the spiciness has been downplayed to appeal to a more international palate. The Tandoori Chicken, accompanied with Naan bread, pays true homage to its predecessors, yet is light enough for those who cannot stomach the spices. The Lamb Samosas are another example of perfect balance, being the blend of savory minced lamb and fresh mint sauce. The Lamb Balti Butter Masala, on the other hand, is a wonderful mixture of Tandoori-cooked lamb, cumin and balti spices ( amongst spices) and served in a traditional clay stove to maintain its taste. The succulent and sweet lamb is tasty enough for a second helping.
They do stick true to English favorites such as streaky bacon and fish ‘n chips. Those who misses Mother England can easily hop over for some good ol' English loving. The Beef Steak and Onion pie with thick crust has a generous serving portion along with just the right amount of flavor. Spared of unnecessary experimenting with spices, the steak is still flavorful and definitely not bland.
The SD food advisor's take on the Eastern Promise A cozy restaurant and pub perfect for after-work laughs or semi-formal events such as dinners. Food is generous, overall satisfying and will not exhaust your budget. This is the place to go when you want to be spared of the mind games that people play. Eastern Promise is the perfect harmony of that good old English pub and the classic Indian restaurant.
