The Low Cost Carrier Terminal (known as LCCT) at Sepang was specifically built to cater to the Low Cost Airlines (or should we say airline). Because of the growing demand for low cost carriers, there is an increase in passengers and the LCCT’s main objective is to channel the growing passengers to another area of the airport. Located 20km away from KLIA’s main terminal, the LCCT is designed to just posses the basic terminal facilities and services.

The 35 290 square meter terminal is designed in such a way that all passenger movement is conducted within a single floor. With the single floor operation area, there is no need for escalators and travellators so the terminal is easy to navigate around.

Air Asia is the main tenant at LCCT. All international and domestic departures/arrivals for Air Asia are done at the Low Cost Terminal. It is the country’s “no frills” airline that has gained popularity primarily in South East Asia for its low fares.

The operation of LCCT also consists of additional infrastructures and services. There’s ample parking space and many restaurants to service passengers that are coming and going. Other conveniences include Foreign Exchange Counters, public phones, Automated Teller Machines (ATM), car rental service and many more. In addition, the international departure and arrival halls both have duty free shops. It might not be as big and fancy as those at KLIA but it serves its purpose. Common duty free items such as cigarettes, alcohol and perfumes are available at the same duty free prices.

There are several ways to get to the LCCT from Kuala Lumpur. The most common (and the most convenient) would be the Skybus which is a bus service that departs from KL Sentral. A one way trip costs RM9 and the journey takes roughly an hour and a half (give or take 15 minutes). There are many other ways to get to LCCT such as taxi services and other bus services. Do check with the service providers on the schedules, frequency and availability of their services.
