Bandar Sunway: Township With A Theme
by: Sophia

More than a decade ago, the country's first resort-like township was created and it was given the name Bandar Sunway. The objective of the project was to create a residential area that caters to both the entertainment and commercial needs with a twist. Bandar Sunway far exceeded its expectations and now it faces problems that come with being one of the hottest spots in the Klang Valley , namely traffic congestion and over population.

The Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) is one of many in a network of highways that connect Bandar Sunway to its neighbouring areas such as Kelana Jaya and Puchong. It is one of the highways that experience an incredibly high flow of traffic due to its accessibility and its extensive reach. Unfortunately for residents of Bandar Sunway, this particular highway is what splits the township right down the middle thus making access to either side of the highway a long and arduous journey.

Despite the terrible traffic conditions, many residents remain in Bandar Sunway because of the multitude of facilities and activities that are provided. The most popular landmark would undoubtedly be the Egyptian-inspired architecture of the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre. A small scale pyramid sits in the centre of this shopping mall. The lion that guards the main entrance is one of the most visited spots in Bandar Sunway and has in a way turned into its beloved mascot. In addition to the splendour of its Egyptian like dcor, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre also houses many international and local retail and food outlets. The country's very first ice skating rink can also be found here.

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park sits cosily next to the Pyramid. What was once a quarry and old tin mine is now the site for a different kind of entertainment experience. It is split into three different sections; Waters Of Africa, Wild Wild West and World Of Adventure. Waters Of Africa is an African-themed water park and Wild Wild West plays host to a game of cowboys and Indians. World Of Adventure is where the excitement and thrills of roller coasters and adventure rides can be found. In addition, there are many food and beverage outlets spread across the theme park for patrons to satiate their hunger in between rides.

Bandar Sunway offers a variety of accommodations all within the vicinity of both the shopping centre and the theme park. The Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa provides 5-star accommodation for those seeking for a luxurious and relaxing hotel experience. The recently launched 6-star Villas will certainly tickle the fancy of guests who prefer the peace and privacy of a sanctuary surrounded by lush greeneries. With only 17 villas to spare, The Villas are definitely a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

This one of a kind township provides a holiday-like experience without having to leave Klang Valley . With all the traffic and time constraints that many families face today, Bandar Sunway will certainly be a welcomed option. Its wide array of facilities were developed to suit every member of the family regardless of age.
