Are u a single person (or any person for that matter) looking for a connection? It is not internet connection that is being offered, it is social connections. People have this common misconception that speed dating is about finding the love of your life. Is it possible to meet the girl/guy of your dreams within that mere 5 minutes? It’s not impossible, just somewhat far fetched. Wouldn’t you rather meet a wide network of people just for the fun of it?
The Attic @ Bangsar offers a “Meet, Mingle and Match” night every 4th Thursday of the month. The night is dedicated to meeting and mingling with the hopes of matching. It isn’t specifically a night for dating but more of making new friends and seeing whether there is a connection. The connection doesn’t necessarily have to be one of the heart, it could be a business connection. That is the beauty of “Meet, Mingle and Match”.
To participate, just send in your details (names and phone numbers) to webmaster@letsspeeddate.com with a minimum of 3 participants and you’ll be able to enjoy good company and even win some prizes. Registration is free of charge and participants that walk in before 7.30pm will enjoy a free cocktail. The dress code is simple, dress to impress. You don’t need a fancy suit or an evening gown to impress. Just come as yourself in whatever makes you feel at ease.
You will be able to meet a variety of people coming from all walks of life. Graphic designers, human rights activists, event managers, advertising executives, writers, entrepreneurs and many other interesting characters unite at this one place for one night. The main purpose is to get to know one another and to hopefully, find a connection (whichever it may be).
It is not an ordinary speed dating event. There’s no time limit, no formal introductions and no real need for fast talk. Instead of separating the guys from the girls and making them go round in circles, the organizers have decided to throw a bunch of people together and see what happens. If you’re not the sociable type, have no fear. The organizers will be around to help you get comfortable and settle in with the crowd. They do a good job in making sure there’s a proportionate number of guys and girls to go around. So if your aim is to meet someone of the opposite sex (or same sex if that rocks your boat), you’ll get a chance to do so. Games will come at the end of the night and fun prizes are up for grabs. But in order to win these prizes, you will have to mingle.
It is an interesting night with good company and drinks to go around. The aim is to meet new people, mingle with them and hopefully find a match. And if you didn’t find a connection of any kind, there’s free internet connection available as well. Just don’t go there with a laptop hoping to hide at one corner to use the free wireless internet. You’ll definitely be the odd one out.
