Mid-Week Nightlife Activities in Kuala Lumpur
by: Sophia

There are many things to do during the weekend in Kuala Lumpur. People come alive at night and storm the night clubs, pubs and restaurants around the city. Weekdays are a little less eventful to the dismay of travellers who plan to visit earlier in the week. Nonetheless, SD is here to fill you in on the mid week activities around Kuala Lumpur in an effort to make sure you get to experience the gist of it.

Mambo Jambo Night @ Velvet, Zouk

Zouk is probably one the most popular night clubs in town. It is separated into 4 different sections, the Zouk mainroom, Velvet, The Loft and Terrace Bar. On Wednesdays, Velvet becomes the highlight of Zouk. Mambo Jambo night has been a mainstay in Zouk's list of weekly activities for years now and has since become a popular scene for those seeking a mid week break. Mambo Jambo night is Kuala Lumpur 's infamous retro night and you'll be able to hear tunes by ABBA, Jackson 5, Madonna in her early days, Debbie Gibson and the list goes on. To make things more interesting, themed nights are held occasionally with themes such as polka dots, winter wonderland, hippie night and many more. Cover charge is RM35 (includes 1 drink) and do be prepared to boogie the night away. Dress code is smart casual so guys, no t-shirts and slippers allowed.

Ghetto Heaven @ Zouk

The name literally speaks for itself. Ghetto Heaven is the 2nd instalment in Zouk's mid week festivities. It is held on Thursday nights and as the name suggests, its repertoire consists of R&B and Hip Hop tunes of yesteryear and today. It is held in Zouk's mainroom and its following has grown over the years. If you're a fan of break dancing, this is one place you'll be able to show off your moves as well as take a peek at other's groove. Dress code is casual and if you're planning to dance the night away, we suggest you wear a comfortable pair of shoes. Cover charge is RM45 for men (includes 2 drinks) and RM35 for ladies (includes 1 drink).

Ladies Night @ My Home Bistro, D esa Sri Hartamas

If you prefer a quieter mid week, try ladies night at My Home Bistro. Ladies get to enjoy a complimentary martini on Wednesdays. Happyhour rates still apply until 9pm where beer is RM26 nett per jug. After happyhour, a jug of beer goes for RM38 nett but have no fear, there are many promotions to your benifit. Purchase 2 jugs of Tiger Draft at RM68 nett and 3 jugs at RM78 nett. Prices at My Home Bistro are very reasonable considering its location within the affluent Desa Sri Hartamas. In addition, a big screen TV is readily available so soccer fans can opt to visit on ladies night to catch the mid week match.
