History: Before Jurong West was developed into an industrial base, supported by low-cost housing, Jurong West (1950s) was mainly made up of swamp land with low hills, shrubs and jungle.
Residential: Large residential area especially in Boon Lay, Taman Jurong & Hong Kah. Some of the estates in Boon Lay are rather old but larger in unit size. Expect new housing in Jurong West Ave 2 & Jalan Bahar.
Industrial: Separate from its residential area, Jurong West also has one of the largest industrial areas in Singapore with many factories in Boon lay.
