About
Pioneer, an industrial hub, is located near Jurong and Boon Lay Districts. The transformation of Pioneer from a mangrove swampland into a modern industrial estate began in 1962. This was made possible by Jurong Town Corporation (JTC). JTC is Singapore 's principal developer and manager of industrial estates. It was set up in 1968 to take over the activity of developing industrial estates. JTC transformed Jurong into an industrial hub in just 3 years.

Industrial
The Jurong Industrial Estate is Singapore 's first and largest industrial estate. It contains many of Singapore most important industries i.e. oil, chemical, logistics, manufacturing, engineering etc. It has more than 2000 factories and employs more than 120000 people.

Places of Interests

• Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC)
  The Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC) stores and conserves artifacts under the care of the National Heritage Board (NHB) of Singapore . HCC is the first of its kind in Asia. HCC conducts guided tours on Wednesdays.
• Jurong Reptile Park
  The Jurong Reptile Park is the largest park of its kind in South East Asia. It is home to more than 50 species of reptiles including crocodiles, komodo dragons, snakes and tortoises. The main attractions of this reptile park are its reptile shows, the crocodiles' feeding times, photography sessions etc.

Sports Centers

• Singapore Amateur Rowing Association (SRA)
  Singapore Rowing Association (SRA) is a national sports association promoting rowing in Singapore and South-east Asia. It has its affiliations to Singapore National Olympic Council, Singapore Sports Council, International Rowing Federation and the Asian Rowing Federation. It also promotes rowing for the disabled.
• The Arena Country Club
  The Arena Country Club offers several facilities to its members like golf ranges, bowling arena, gymnasiums, swimming pools, saunas etc.
