The residential area of Portsdown mainly comprises condominiums and semi-detached houses at Nepal Park and Wessex Estate, and is sought after by Singapore 's expatriate community and the creative community of artists, designers, photographers, architects, and actors etc.

The Wessex Estate, occupying 27.9 hectares of tranquillity and green serenity, is an example. The estate is a colonial-themed residence with 26 apartment blocks and 58 semi-detached houses. Creative personalities like artists, actors, designers and architects have called the Wessex Estate their homes…and workplaces. JTC Corporation (JTC) has plans to revamp some apartment blocks into work lofts which these creative individuals can utilize as gallery studios.
