About There are nine sub-zones in Bukit Batok. They are Gombak, Hong Kah, Brickworks, Guilin, Hillview, Bukit Batok West, Bukit Batok Central, Bukit Batok East and Bukit Batok South.
Bukit Batok is located in the western region of Singapore. The town is bordered by the Pan-Island Expressway, Toh Tuck Road, Upper Bukit Timah Road and Bukit Batok Road to allow easy access to other areas of Singapore.
There are approximately 31,000 units of flats in the new town, majority of which are 3-room to 4-room flats with some 2,700 executive flats serving a population of around 111,000 residents and counting.
History In Malay, Bukit means 'hill' while Batok means 'cough'. This term came from the granite quarry in the early days, which gave the impression that the hills were coughing. The popular 'Little Guilin' town park was developed from an abandoned granite quarry.

Transport The town’s two main public transportation services are located within close proximity to each other. The Bukit Batok MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station is situated right next to West Mall, a neighbourhood shopping centre, and the Bukit Batok bus interchange is less than a 5 minute walk from the MRT station.
