The collections at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) are housed in two separate buildings. They are located at the Empress Place Building at Empress Place and the old Tao Nan School at Armenian Street. ACM, Armenian Street is currently undergoing a major overhaul and will re-emerge as an exciting new Peranakan Museum in 2008.
The Asian Civilisations Museum at Empress Place is Singapore’s largest and most spectacular museum. It is located in a 137-year old former colonial government office. There are 10 thematic galleries presenting over 1,300 artifacts spanning 5,000 years of Asian cultures from China, Southeast Asia, South Asia to West Asia/The Islamic World.
Don’t miss the Singapore River Interpretive Gallery, which tells the moving story of immigrants who once lived and worked along the Singapore River.
Complementing the displays are state-of-the-art interactive hosts, multimedia displays and interactive zones which provide a memorable experience for the senses.
