?You Are What You Eat?? you've probably heard the phrase? do you know where it originated? The approximate translation, is credited to Brillat-Savarin, one of history's most famous chefs, and dates to the beginning of the 19th century. You know what? He was right. Because, as we get older, everything physical becomes an antiaging subject from skin care through to the rest of our bodies? doesn't it?
As we move through the calendar of our lives, our ability to process food, changes, as a part of those changes our metabolism requires our diet to change as well.
When we're young, there is usually no problem with processing our food. For most of us.. faster metabolism and a youthful body, that is still converting much of our nourishment to growth? leaves little room for fat.
However, it's hard not to notice that, so many children today, especially inner city dwellers, are much heavier than their counterparts of 20, 30 or 40 years ago. Why is that you ask?? DIET? or more correctly the lack of a proper diet.
OK, here's another zinger from long ago? ?We Dig Our Graves With Our Teeth?? Benjamin Franklin observed that nearly 250 years ago. You know what? He was right too.
I know? it's fun to eat? nevertheless, most of us will have to make a choice between being slaves to our eating habits and how long and well we want to live, because eating right is a major component of any successful anti aging plan.
I am not even going to try to suggest how to diet because there are about a gazzilion books out there, all with a different way to get the deed done? supposedly.
If you notice these trends, you may have also noticed that the more successful approaches are actually eating styles as opposed to diets? certainly sounds better?. Styles, sort of rolls of the tongue, you can almost hear Antonio Banderas saying it? ?Styyellss?.
A primary reason that books like South Beach and Fat Smash, as well as other low carb etc. approaches are working for people, is that they are plans that successfully guide you into eating in a sustainable manner. Reading and absorbing strategies such as those mentioned, will not only show you what's good for you, it will also allow you to absorb vital guidelines that you can make a part of your life. Because the resulting improvements in your health and diet will help you extend not only your health but your life as well.
I am not for a minute, suggesting that treats and dinners out are to be eliminated? we all know better. What I am saying, is that you must adopt a sustainable (enjoyable) structure for your meals if you intend to win your encounter with the oncoming years.
Step into this thinking one rung at a time, because jumping on the latest dietary bandwagon, without deciding whether you will like it well enough to stick with it, will pretty well assure that you'll fall off that wagon as fast as you jumped on. The answer to change is? don't jump! Do your research, shop around and learn what's working for others. You can also read book reviews at places like Amazon to see how others fared.
Take control of your diet because you will live longer and better for it? that is ultimately what all this anti-aging stuff is about.
