One of the states on the very edge of the emerging global market for tourism is Rio do Grande Norte. Natal is a new exciting Brazilian tourist destination that is close to Europe and North America that provides cheaper options for flights, excellent restaurants and hotels, and fine dining. This contributed to its pristine beaches, its pleasant temperatures of 30 Degrees Celsius and the development of what is to become the world's fourth largest airport. Which is designed to bring in five million travellers per year, it's no wonder that major airlines and travel companies are now offering direct flights and package holidays to the area.
-Visitors of Natal will notice its famous coastline, with sapphire colour waters and palm trees dotting the coastline.
-Nearby activities include water activities and riding in sand dune buggies.
-The government of Natal is in the process of constructing the fourth largest airport in the world. Because Natal is the closest of Brazil's regions to Europe, the number of tourist from Europe and North America has continued to increase.
-The completion of the bridge that connects Natal to the beach resorts in 2007 was instrumental in reducing that journey time down to 25 minutes.
-It is at least 3 times cheaper to travel in the north than in the south.
For what reason should you invest in Natal?
Standard of Living in Brazil
Being 4000km closer to Europe, Natal offers much cheaper and shorter flights, only 7 hours from Europe and is becoming a favourite European destination. The title of safest capital in Brazil belongs to Natal.
The city of Natal, with an estimated population of almost one million, earns its nickname, The City of the Sun, from having an average temperature of 30C and sunshine 360 days a year.
Beaches
One of the singular joys of travelling in Brazil is the exploration along the stunning coast north of Natal. The famous Genipabu Dunes and the Cabo de Sao Roque with its untouched white sand beaches, are ideal locations for swimming, a variety of water sports with many horse rides along the beach and dune buggies to ride on.
Furthermore, sports such as kite and windsurfing and Maracajau reef scuba diving are very relaxing.
Tourism Growth
European tourism levels, mainly from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Norway, Sweden & UK are increasing at a rapid pace. American Airlines is expected to be the first US airline next year to operate direct flights to Natal via Miami, five hour flight time, whilst British Airways will fly direct from London. Reasonably-priced flights and holidays to Natal are now available from Thomson, and other major tour operators. We are witnessing the beginning of a huge global tourism market. This has resulted in a rapid increase in the price of land, rental values and a demand for resorts.
This influx of tourists will be further enhanced in 2014 when Brazil hosts the FIFA world cup for the second time. The decision to allow Brazil to host the world cup indicates F I F A is happy that local infrastructure is in place to welcome large visitors. The construction of the new 51,000-capacity stadium puts Natal among the favourites of the 19 cities bidding to host the games.
