For as long as you are creating your own success online, you will be online a lot. You will become deeply immersed in the needs and foibles of your niche market. As a result, you should choose a niche market that you enjoy being dedicating your time to. Just because you want to get rich doesn't mean you have to hate doing it. In fact, the opposite is true. You see, becoming successful online will take a lot of time. The more you enjoy the time you spend online, the more productive you will be, and the faster you will make things happen online.
What do you enjoy? What are your hobbies? Write a list of all your hobbies, of all the things you enjoy doing. This should be a list at least 20 items. Next write a list of things you really enjoy reading or learning about. This should be at least 10 items. Now, cross off half the items on the list, leaving the items you most enjoy.
Now, go online and begin to research these areas. Use the search engines. Look at the first 10 results for any keyword related to each item on your list. Are there good quality products in that field, or are there some gaps? Use Overtures's keyword inventory tool to see how often a particular keyword is searched. If a keyword is searched 50 times a month, that is probably not a great candidate for your niche. But if it is searched 500,000 times and there is not great information in the top ten results, maybe this will be a good niche for you.
Look up your potential niche area and the word 'forum' in the search engines and find some forums for your niche. Read through them. Is there a lot of current interest in your niche?
Look up the forums in Alexa. Do they have rankings of less than 100,000? Or less than 50,000? (the lower the ranking, the more traffic it gets) If a forum is ranked less than 100,000 and certainly if it is ranked less than 50,000, there is probably some solid online interest in your niche.
Don't be too concerned to decide on the perfect niche. Just one that has a lot of interest online, that interests you personally, and isn't flooded with great products. Once you finish this product, you can always create another in another niche market.
How To Find Niche Market
Who wants to go to work day in, day out for an unappreciative boss, be stuck in traffic for what can be hours per day, and miss too many of your children's milestones? Nobody! There is hardly anyone currently employed who does not daydream of working from home, being their own boss, forgetting about the commute, and being available to family and friends whenever possible. For quite a few, this dream translates into a reality when they start their own home business, but some have a hard time getting started; in particular, they have a tough time deciding just what to do for a work from home business.
While trying to find your niche is not necessarily hard, it is also not as simple as it may sound. To help you along in this process, here are some questions to consider when getting ready to earnestly find your niche possibley a home business:
What are you capable of doing that perhaps someone else does not wish to do or is not able to do? For example, changing your car's oil and rotating its tires are things that take a special ability, but even those who have it do not always want to do it and therefore will gladly pay someone else to take these messy tasks off their hands. Do you have a knack for getting that television hooked up or a computer repaired after a virus attack? Are you great with kids and have them eating out of your hand at your church's daycare? Do you have a keen eye for bargains and can ferret out deals and steals when even the hardiest shoppers are unable to save anything? These skills take a knack that you can turn into your niche and get paid.
If no special skill comes to mind maybe you can find your nich,by capitalize on a special talent you may have? Are you a fine artist that can paint portraits of dogs that are so lifelike that friends and family are always asking you for another likeness of Fluffy or Rover? Are you a great cook? Does your garden look like an oasis in a sea of gardens with dried grass and wilting flowers? Can you explain even the most complex algebraic equations to your children in such a way that they actually understand them? Perhaps you play and instrument and could teach others to do so as well. If so, you may find your niche in your talent, and that is quite marketable!
Yet another idea, if you have neither special skill nor confirmed talent, you can not give up! The odds are good that you will be able to find your niche by doing those things everyone knows how to do but they simply do not wish to deal with. For example, if you know how to put a party together, you could be a party planner specializing in children's birthdays. Conversely, if you do not mind climbing on ladders, then window washer could be your niche.Do you own gardening equipment? Why not use it to become a gardener?
