Youth is a time of high motivation for self-improvement and the obtaining of a satisfactory self image. Conversely it can also be a time of much self-doubt and despair. For many, early life can be sheer agony. Stick insect thin or obese conditions when young send many teenagers into almost suicidal despondency, so each and every straw is grasped in an attempt to become within the acceptable norm physically; always under peer pressure. Cures for pimples and spots are sought, only to be constantly defeated by adolescent hormones working overtime.
Clothes and habits are copied to give that secure feeling of belonging to the gang, and large numbers are attracted by various adverts or images to take up for the first time, training with weights, with the sole object of rapidly building up some respectable muscles. The accent always being on "RAPID", far too many quit. For every ten teenagers taking up bodybuilding, seven will quit and drop out within the first three months. (i.e. just as does adults who attend slimming classes ) Disillusioned or disgusted, they quit because results fail to show as quick or as easy as they were led to believe, perhaps by the over hyped adverts and promises.
These resulting failures can only be put down to poor training or perhaps we should say OVERTRAINING. Teenagers need to follow a concrete and well paced out program and this is where I hope to be of some assistance so that a larger number of teenagers can reach their goal of self-image. There isnt really a right or wrong age to begin with weights but it goes without saying that exercise should be encouraged from an early age.
Especially in the formative years, youngsters should be encouraged to participate in all types of sports and occupations with the object of obtaining and aiding full normal development and the learning of skills. All young people should be trained as soon as possible to obtain the basic fitness to literally save their own lives. Running, jumping and swimming are definite musts! Most children with positive encouragement can learn to swim within a week. The running and athletic exercises ensure healthy lungs and cardiovascular systems, without which heavier exercises are useless or indeed even harmful.
If a youngster shows real desire to train, encouragement and one to one coaching can begin. A low resistance program should be followed in the inicial stages combined with low poundage weights and any child under the age of fourteen, MUST train under a watchful and professional eye. The earliest possible age for this type of training would be around ten years of age and only the lightest weights should be used.
Controlled low weight exercise is essencial. Repetitions averaging about twelve on a full range of basic exercises should last about thirty minutes, and no more than three times a week. The correct safety measures should always be implaced, and never forgetting to warm up and taper off. Barbell and dumbbells exercises imply the use of a collar and the coach should check weights at all times.
Dead lifts, good morning excercises, heavy squats and bouncing squats should be avoided at all times by young trainees, as well as any form of weight exercise that could lead to compressing the spine. Having reached a stage whereby his or her natural growth potential and bones, joints and tendons have stabilized, heavier weights can be introduced into training, but it is imperative that a coach oversees at all times.
Schedules can become longer ranging from one to two hours, three times a week. It is not necessary, or wise to spend more time than this on what after all is an introverted occupation, nor should too much narcissism be the object, instead encourage the young trainer to obtain a useful development. Gymnastics agility exercises or martial arts are just two examples of muscle put to a purpose.
Mice And Men Part 1
Many people around the world love to give meaning to very important events. Celebrations, festivals or feast days are always common and a lot of people usually spend time, money and effort to join them. These activities are usually very social, and chances are, you will meet new friends along the way.
There are thousands of festivals and celebrations around the world to commemorate a special social event, a religious activity, or worthwhile cause. Here are two of the well known festivals or celebrations from different parts of the world:
The Boryeong Mud Festival
One of the more famous Korea festivals, the Boryeong Mud Festival, is participated by thousands of Koreans and foreigners from all parts of the globe. There are plenty of games, group dancing, and colorful fireworks shows - and of course, lots of mud. There are heaps and heaps of mud, which many people believe possess very good anti-aging properties that can help soften the skin, remove wrinkles and give a person a younger look. But if the mud doesn’t help your skin, the exercise and fun you will receive from mud wrestling, the “mud king" contests, several mud training drills and mud slides should help improve your body’s blood circulation.
The Daecheon swimming beach has always been the location of the Boryeong mud festival. It’s a perfect place for bathing and for getting some mud packs. And if you’re the type of person who doesn’t like to have mud all over your body, then it’s the mud prison for you. In the Boryeong Mud festival, you really don’t have other options but to get dirty.
So for those who love to travel, meet new friends, and get ‘mud dirty’, the Boryeong Festival is just the right activity for you. The Boryeong Festival usually takes place every 2nd week of July. For the year 2008, the Boryeong Festival will happen on July 12 to July 20. That should be enough time to have fun.
La Tomatina
If you’re the type of person who is into food fights, then you will probably love La Tomatina. Thousands of people attend this event. The accommodations in the town of Buñol in Valencia, Spain is very limited during the last Wednesday of August, the time when the La Tomatina takes place.
A few of the rules to remember when joining this food fight:
1.Throw only squashed tomatoes, and nothing else. Don’t start a big fight by throwing rocks or bottles. A slugfest with tomatoes is more fun.
2.Do not block the road where the tomato trucks pass by. Some people tend to get overexcited and try to stop everyone along the way or crowd in places where the tomatoes will be hauled over.
3.Start throwing tomatoes after the first water canon is shot. The first canon is usually shot around 10:30 or 11:00AM. After the signal, tomato fighting should ensue. Wear protective gears like goggles or gloves as things will get really messy.
4.Stop the tomato-throwing after the second water canon is shot. This usually happens around 1:00 to 1:30PM. By this time the streets should be covered with tomato juice, and everyone is red with tomato all over them. After the tomato fighting, people can hit the showers prepared by the local government for them, or they can go to the Buñol river for a dip.
These are two of the well known festivals around the world. If you find the opportunity to join them, then take the trip. These activities will not only help get you new friends, but should give you a chance to travel and see the world and find out what you have been missing all these years.
