•Stamp your Demi Products buckle into a pigmented inkpad.
•Cover the buckle with clear embossing powder.
•Heat the embossing powder using a heat gun.
•While the embossing powder is still wet, sprinkle more powder over and repeat the heating process.
•Top Tip: use 3 layers of embossing powder to achieve a clear and smooth texture. Alternatively, 1 or 2 layers of embossing will give a more uneven texture.
2.SPRAY PAINT YOUR ALTERED BOOK
•Another method of covering your altered book pages and embellishments is to use craft spray paint.
•To avoid uneven coverage whilst spraying hold the nozzle several centimetres away from the project. Begin by moving the spray across from left to right until your project has been completely covered.
•Apply the first coat lightly; spray paint dries quickly and layers of many light coats will form an even thick coat.
•Top Tip: Work in a well-ventilated area and protect the area surrounding your altered project with old newspaper.
3.STAMPING INTO EMBOSSING
•Using a pigmented inkpad ink your stamp and set it to one side.
•Stamp your Demi Product tags into clear embossing ink.
•Cover with embossing powder and heat with a heat gun.
•Apply another layer of embossing powder while the embossing is still wet. Repeat until you cover your tag with at least 3-4 layers.
•While the embossing is still wet, stamp with the inked stamp into the embossing.
•Lift the stamp carefully off the tag.
•Top Tip: If you aren’t happy with the finished stamped image you can heat the embossing and stamp into it again but remember to ink the stamp again.
4.ALTERING YOUR ALTERED BOOK PAGES
•To achieve an old ‘weathered’ look on your pages you can crumble or fold the pages.
•The altered book page needs to be sprayed with water, be careful not to wet the page too much.
•The page can be twisted or slightly folded to achieve a weathered effect; this adds texture to your book or project.
•You can either dry it with a heat gun or iron the page flat again.
•Before applying spray paint, acrylic paint, ink or chalks to the page make sure that it is completely dry.
•Apply paint to cover the page. Make sure the paint is dry before you complete the next step.
•Use a dye inkpad or chalk inkpad and drag it over the page. The ink or chalk will stick to the raised areas of the page. The sides can also be inked.
•Top Tip: When you have altered the page and are left with uneven surfaces it’s best to use a good liquid glue ie. Monoglue from Towbow.
