Green Seal is another standardization organization that is certifies cleaning products among other things. With a couple of new products on the market, it is possible to sanitize everything from food to fabrics in a manner that doesn't harm the environment. Some cleaning products, however, can contain harmful chemicals that contaminate the environment and endanger human health. A growing number of commercial non-toxic home cleaning products are also available, as healthier and environmentally responsible alternatives.

Some cleaning alternatives

Using ordinary household glass cleaner on special screens, especially cleaners with ammonia can remove anti-glare protection and/or other special surfaces. This delayed effect is particularly seen in glass cleaners. Borax, ammonia and baking soda are safe alternatives that can clean and disinfect to meet hospital standards and are much cheaper than name brand cleaners. This will reduce the toxic cleaners needed for rugs as vinegar and water works great for cleaning non-carpet floors.

Utilized correctly, green cleaning can help to reduce many of these health and environmental hazards. Use the formulas described above or purchase 'green' commercial alternatives and most importantly of all when replacing your cleaning products, don't just throw the old ones in the trash.
