Business gifts are one of the biggest categories of promotional product sales. When a company gives away an item with the intent of business their business or product, they're using business gifts to increase name recognition, promote a new product or business or otherwise put their name out there to their customers. While there are literally hundreds of different products that are used as business gifts, some are more popular than others. Just because they're the most popular, though, doesn't mean they'll be the best products to choose for your business? promotional campaign. Take a look at the Big Three in business gifts and see how they'd work for your business.
Promotional Pens
Possibly the biggest business gifts of all time, promotional pens are practically synonymous with the field. Everyone has at least one pen printed with a company's name or logo in their pen pot. They fit every one of the rules set out for successful business gifts ? they're portable, they're useful, everyone uses them, and they get passed along from hand to hand. On top of that, promotional pens can be among the least expensive of all business gifts. Promotional pens are ideal for handing out at trade shows and local events. It's easy to keep a pen pot full of printed pens at the till in your store or business and encourage your customers to take one along with them.
On the other hand, printed pens are so commonly used as business gifts that they've lost their power to make an impression ? unless you take the time to choose a very distinctive style. If you're choosing business gifts for a trade show event, you can make a splash by choosing excellent quality pens that are comfortable to use and distinctive in appearance. If you offer pens that people love as business gifts, they will keep your name in mind and close to hand.
Promotional Coffee Mugs
Coffee and travel mugs have rapidly become very big sellers in the business gifts field. Like printed pens, they fit the requirements for excellent business gifts. Coffee mugs and travel mugs are useful to almost everyone. They have a large printable area for maximum impact of your name or message. They're small enough to be portable, and travel mugs encourage portability. When they sit on a desk in an office, they're very visible, both to the recipients and to anyone who stops by their desk. Since they are often used every day and sit on a desk all day, promotional coffee mugs have a big name recognition factor.
Also like printed pens, printed mugs are such popular choices for business gifts that you have to choose distinctive and memorable mugs to carry your message. Luckily, there are so many styles and varieties of coffee mugs that it's not difficult to find coffee mugs that are unique to your business.
Promotional Key Rings
The third member of the ?Big Three? promotional products, key rings are popular for all the same reasons that coffee mugs and pens make the list. They're small, everyone can use a key ring and they come in many different styles and materials. Most people would prefer not to spend money on a keyring, and will be quite happy to use printed keyrings given as business gifts. When they choose to use your printed keyring to carry their keys, they've chosen to carry your name along with them wherever they go. They'll see your name every time they use their keys ? usually several times a day. And of course, key rings are a very inexpensive choice for business gifts.
The Rise Of Big Business
When the environmental concern Global Warming is discussed the three main topics of debate seem to be does it exist, what is too blame for it, and who is responsible for fixing it. What can be done to correct the problem is rarely at the forefront of the debate unfortunately, but the responsible party always seems to default to the U.S. government. While it seems logical that the United States government should drive the movement towards a healthier environment the business sector has an important role to play as well. The resources commanded by the top 100 companies in the world outweigh those of the poorest 100 countries. With this level of power the business sector might very well be able to fix Global Warming before the government can decide who to blame for it.
Power consumption in the business sector has always been a large percentage of the whole. With Information Technology now such an important part of business, power needs have been on the rise. Stanford University professor Jonathan Koomey researched this issue and found that 1.2% of all U.S energy was being consumed by business data centers alone. Burning through this much power, as well as all of the computer waste being created by business means a giant carbon footprint. Although power consumption is not being addressed, the waste products are.
While refurbished laptops and computers are increasing in popularity due to large financial savings, the recycling of electronics is definitely on the rise. Thousands of tons of computers, cell phones, VCR's, and DVD players are finding their way out of landfills and into recycling plants. Goodwill Industries now has a computer division that does nothing other than collect old computers, then refurbish and re-sell them at seriously discounted prices. The recycling business is in such demand in fact, the US based computer recycling company Metech was recently purchased for $22 million in cash and stock. Metech made $44 million in revenue in 2006 so there is definitely money to be made in doing the right thing.
So what can businesses do to prevent waste from winding up in landfills? Start here:
? Reduce paper ? Businesses should only purchase recycled paper, and then as little as possible. Most major office supply stores sell recycled paper.
? Recycle Everything ? well you can't recycle everything, but a recycle center should be set up at the office with clear directions on what goes in the trash and what doesn't.
? Educate ? Make sure employees know what they can do to help the businesses improve the environment.
