Okay, so we have all heard about site content and the importance of it. Tell us something new, something that is innovative, revolutionary, or perhaps even magic to help us. I have to ask why you need to know something new when old and proven already works. Yes, it is true that many people fail to see the benefits of simplicity because it is just too simple to be true and therefore probably would not work for me.
Therefore, if you want something revolutionary this is not the article for you, but if you stick around perhaps you will even find a golden nugget in this classic tale of how the little engine can drive your massive ambition of making gigantic profits from your site.
Whatever the theme of you site, build content around it. This will form the core of your powerful engine, and then add content that supports it. Are you with me? I have a gardening site so I am writing about growing flowers, buying flowers, arranging flowers. I then add related content about getting the soil ready, about planting flowers in pots, on patios and in apartments. I now have pages after pages of high quality content.
I now add related products to enhance the content. I select and display books and magazines for sale. I make suggestion about tools to use for all types of soil conditions. I direct visitors to other sites if it means giving them the best advice.
It is important to revisit your site occasionally as a visitor would. What is the visitor seeing, what is the visitor missing? Can I add content that brings it all together? Would a step-by-step manual work best? Should I include a guest column where I have the local nursery owner write a few sentences about winter gardening? What will provide the visitor with a super great experience? Should I ask for visitors email addresses and send out a monthly newsletter with reminders about sales occurring or when the best time are to plant tomatoes and corn?
Lastly, make sure that your look and feel portrays an element of your theme. My gardening site might change colors as the seasons change. I may have some brown and golden leaves scattered throughout signaling fall and beautiful green, blue, red and yellow flowers during the summer months.
Now, get going make your site a powerful engine that will drive you sales through the roof and most importantly have fun with it.
