In occasions such as birthdays, weddings, Halloween, among others, candles have changed throughout the passing years. From the common wax-type candles, they were given a more updated appeal by means of a huge selection of scents and shapes to select from.
Scented candles have changed the regular candle style. Science even provided candles a deeper function. Aside from providing a feeling of warmth to your home; they also give-out a cozy, refreshing and soothing feeling.
Scented candles would come in diverse dimensions and shapes. Most candles are now created from natural resources. Bees wax, bayberry as well soybeans are just a few of the possible ingredients from nature. For those susceptible to allergies, fragranced soy-candles is a suitable alternative.
Scented candles can also relieve stress. Candles with oils extracted from plants is a better option to calm your nerves and relax your body, mind and soul. This is essentially the reason why Aromatherapy became popular. Some of the popular scents for this would be lavender, gardenia, blue berry, lemon pie and Grandma's cookies among others.
Shops used to vend expensive fragranced candles before. People now have turned out to be sensible. You can make your own fragranced candles at home already.
The only devices or materials you need for a shaped and fragranced candle would be a candle mold prepared from plaster, silicon rubber or metal; paraffin wax; polyethylene; wick for the candle-which can be prepared from cotton; a stove; a double-boiler-type container; storage racks; technical dye-the color must be oil soluble; essential oil-which can be natural or synthetic; lab thermometer; wick container prepared from a bamboo stick; stirrer ?preferably from bamboo or lumber; weighing scale with a 10kl capacity; scissors; and a big cutter.
The procedure is exceptionally simple, even for beginners. You need to initially set-up the actual mold. Make sure the mold you are using has a wider opening than its bottom. This allows you to get the candle away without difficulty. You would then set-up the candle wick. You need to adjust the actual dimension of the wick with the candle's diameter and the candles? material.
The next step would be to soften the actual wax. You can weigh about 90 parts to about 10 parts of polyethylene wax. Place this concoction inside the double boiler. On no account should you soften the wax in direct heat for the reason that it is highly flammable. It is best if your work area is open.
Go on warming up the concoction until all of it has softened and blended completely. After this, allow it to cool down to about70'C. You can then add the color and your chosen fragrance for your candle. Stir al of it again completely.
The final steps would be to put the wax concoction into your chosen mold. Make sure there is some space by the upper rim. You need to afterwards place in the wick into the mold. It must be positioned in the middle. Place the wick's extra end around your bamboo stick. This will hold your candle's wick in position as the wax cools down.
Once the wax has cooled, you can take out your fragranced candle. If you encounter problems descending your candle out of the mold, submerge it for less than a minute in hot water. Inserting the candle in hot water allows the surface part of the candle to soften. Take your candle away. Do again the procedure if you wish to make extra fragranced candles.
