Garbage Disposal How To
Jim Brown
Proper garbage disposal is important to ensure everyone's safety from possible health hazards. It is common understanding that this is critical for both human beings and animals. Pets just love to roam around; sometimes, they can be unstoppable. Pets love to touch or bite things they seemingly find attractive and unfortunately including garbage and trash littered within your premises or when you're too unlucky, from your neighbor's. Sadly, there are a number of incidents that have posed danger to some pets because of improper garbage disposal even close to the point of death. Since garbage disposal is everyone's responsibility, it would be best to review why this is highly important to prevent unwanted pet accidents.
PHYSICAL DETERRENTS
Your pet could swallow objects that can obstruct their digestive system in the process. This can cause difficulty in the progress and movement of food should there be permanent effects to this incident. Common items that may litter out of your garbage bins include bones of poultry, fish or meat, plastic, remnants from tin cans, paper and plastic. All of these are harmful to your pets and can cause shock to their digestive tracts, strangulation, or worse, close to death situations that may call for the need of surgery.
TOXIC MOLDS
Molds grow vaguely from decayed or damp organisms or from anything organic. A fungus for example can produce molds. Rotten, spoiled and putrid matter are present in the garbage bins and these are few of those that provide room for a wide array of molds to grow. Examples of foods where molds can grow best are tomatoes, cheese, bread, potatoes and nuts among many others to mention. Exposure to molds and to the toxins they produce may have adverse effects to your pet's health such as seizures and tremors.
BACTERIA
Food poisoning is the menace of bacteria. It results inflamed tracts of the intestines, a disease which is called enteritis. Bacteria are a common cause which is cultivated by decayed foods. Bacterial enteritis is associated with symptoms like intermittent diarrhea with foul odor and presence of blood stains in the animal's feces. Temperature may be noted above normal range. This disease is fatal to dogs and especially those below six months. It can also spread to other household pets in the home if there are no immediate interventions.
POISONOUS GARBAGE
Some of the items in the house that sometimes are not properly disposed off are poisonous. These items can vary from disinfectants, cleaning fluids, antibacterial agents, insecticides, harmful foods, residues of medications and several others. Exposure and ingestion of these poisonous items can cause danger to their physical health condition. Indications such as slowed movements, complete appetite loss and vomiting all show signs of poisoning.
Tossing the trash in your covered garbage bins is an important ongoing practice in the household. Keeping your garbage bins away from your household pet's reach where they do not have the ability to roll those over is another issue. Your pets may not understand the accompanying danger but you do, so make it a responsibility that everyone should be observing because you surely will not like a lesson learned the hard way.
