What does it look like to you? It's pretty easy, it's a straight line!
So, what does this straight line have to do with marketing? Well, you've probably heard about the shortest distance between two points right?
Guess what? The shortest distance between taking a one-time customer and developing them into a long-term customer, or perhaps even a life-time customer is... A STRAIGHT LINE!
What does this mean exactly? Well, 80% of all marketers complicate marketing way too much, trying to be too creative, trying to be too cute, or even worse, throwing money at the wall trying to brand themselves with advertising.
It isn't that difficult folks!
Here are the simplicities of marketing, one at a time, I will coin the term -- Straight Line Marketing:
Sell stuff that you have already found out that people want to buy. The key here is that you have already found a market of buyers for your product or service first. Do not assume people want to buy something just because you think it solves a problem.
People buy the HOLE, not the doughnut. Do not sell features to any of your market sell the BENEFITS to them. For example, in the make money online niche, people actually are not buying the make money online part of your marketing. They are buying the "get me out of the 9 to 5 grind job that I hate." They just want that illusion, so sell to that illusion, and you will have it made. Then, and only then, back it up with facts and logic after conveying the emotion and selling the hole.
It isn't about new marketing techniques or new marketing strategies. It's about HUMAN BEINGS and EMOTIONS. PERIOD! - That's it. Nothing More - Nothing Less! You are marketing to people. Therefore, keep in mind, there will always be emails that need to be answered in a timely fashion. There will always be customer complaints to deal with and refunds to deal with, etc, etc. Get used to it! Take care of your valued customers! Don't just treat them as an email, a conversion statistic or as just a number.
If you already take care of your customers and continually strive to develop a long-term relationship with them... CONGRATULATIONS! You are ahead of the pack and you have placed your business on a level above many online today.
If you follow the Straight Line Marketing Guidelines you will begin to succeed. However, if you neglect to follow them, you will fail. Sooner or later.
Your success is a simple as: A ________ to B.
Always keep this in mind when dealing with your customers. It's the shortest route to your success!
