It will never fail to interrupt your dinner. It will often wake you up when you are trying to sleep, when you are entertaining, or just when you wish the phone would not ring one more time that day. Of course, we are referring to unsolicited phone calls at home. They have become an annoying and seemingly permanent thorn in the sides of Americans. Who gives all of these people the permission to intrude in your home? It is like someone somewhere gave them a free pass to interrupt you at home any time they choose.
It is rare that you get a telemarketing call from a business or salesperson that actually has something that you might be interested in. It can almost be like a steady stream of salespeople knocking on your door on the hour every hour. It has gotten so out of hand that some people just take their phone off the hook. The only problem with that is you are not getting all of the phone service that you are paying for every month. There are the calls from actual friends or family that you do not want to miss. Those calls are the ones that you have service for anyway. You are only punishing yourself and having limited use of your telephone when you have to take it off the hook.
Then of course, there are bill collectors. Now, some people you have it a little better than others might not have to put up with this particular nuisance, but many people do. It is a very tough economic time we live in and sometimes we have no choice but send in a late payment. This still should not give a bill collector the right to contact you at home at anytime day or night. It is not like you of all people do not know you are late and if you had the money it would already be in their hands, anything just to stop the annoying reminder phone calls.
There are ways to stop these aggravating, life interfering phone calls. Depending on which phone service you have, you can contact them for instructions on how to block specific numbers. This means you can leave the phone on the hook where it is supposed to be. You can also ask your phone company about placing your phone number on a no call list for telemarketers. Bill collectors might have a right to call you occasionally, but these people do not because you do not owe them anything, not even your time if you choose not to. Stop the flood of unwanted telephone calls to your house and you will not have to be rude to anyone again for interrupting your dinner.
