Most floral arrangements last 4 to 7 days, and that depends on the kinds of flowers used and the amount of care they receive. Here are several tips to help you keep your Philippine flower delivery more vibrant, longer.
For floral arrangements:
You can mix flower food in a vase filled with water or floral foam soaked with water to make your bouquet last longer. However, it is important that you mix the flower food according to the directions found on the packet. Most packets need to be mixed with a pint or a quart of water, take care not to over dilute it or it will lose its effectiveness. You can purchase flower food from any florist.
Sometimes, the flower food solution can become cloudy. When this happens, you will need to replace it with a newly mixed solution. Sometimes you will also need to cut the stems again. Removing one to two inches of the stem is optimal. When trimming, make sure you use a sharp knife so you don't crush the stems.
When displaying the flowers, it is best that you choose a cool spot. Look for an area with an average temperature of 65 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep it away from direct sunlight, on top of televisions and radiators, or anywhere that's hot because these could dehydrate the flowers.
For loose bunches or boxed flowers:
Get the flowers into a flower food solution immediately. If you can't make sure you keep them in a cool place so that these don't get dehydrated. Take note of the mixing instructions found on the packet of the flower food solution.
Before mixing the flower food solution, make sure you clean a deep vase with detergent or an antibacterial cleaning solution.
When you've filled the vase with the solution, remove the leaves which are located below the water line. When not removed, these leaves can decay in the water causing microbial growth which in turn, limits water uptake of these flowers.
When the solution, replace it with a new mix. It is best to cut the one to two inches of the stem before placing it in the water. Again, make sure you remove leaves which are below the water line.
Are you purchasing loose flowers so you can arrange them yourself? Well, make sure that the flowers are upright, their petals are firm and the buds are still closed or are beginning to open. Drooping leaves are a sign of age and when the buds are fully opened, you only have one to two days to store them since they're ready to fall out. Also, when you're dealing with woody stems, it is best that you cut them with sharp pruning spears and place them in warm water-flower food solution.
