How To Buy A Dog
Andrew Mills
An easy mistake to make is taking your kids into a pet store if you aren't serious about buying them a pet. It will not take time for your kids to find the cutest little pooch and a connection between them won't be that hard to achieve. You just can't say no since you will be given with a puppy that looks so charming with its watery brown eyes which seems to beg you to take him home together with your wailing children who are just ready to throw their tantrums provided you get them what they want. Aside from the unstoppable calls of your children, you will likely find yourself remembering the past particularly those moments that you had with your home dog - you're paying for a shopping cart full of dog stuff - plus the pup.
When you buy a dog in an impulse, only then that you will realise all the sorrows of doing so. Only then, after several days of bonding with the dog, that you will find out that the personality of the dog is not something that could match your home's way of life. Then, you tend to start taking the dog for granted as you will no longer have the tendency to take him for a walk or devote your working hours just to feed him. The feeling is like having another unwanted child in the household. You become more annoyed with those petty accidents caused by the puppy, its habits of barking during nighttime, his chewing of your furniture and other natural dog traits. That is usually the time wherein some owners who are callous enough, tend to reprimand their dogs with too much violence or merely disregard them.
Sadly, many of the dogs in pounds are there because they were the impulse buy of a family or an adult who failed to think about what dog ownership demands. The keeper chooses based on lovely puppy features without learning about the dog's full-grown size or its breed traits. After several months, it is more likely that a conflict of some sort will tend to develop. It is not entirely the fault of the dogs why they were sent to pounds and usually, many of them are prospective pets provided that the right home would adopt them. Being chosen by those people who were not actually prepared for all the duties and adjustment that owning a dog involves, is the only misdeed that the dog tends to suffer.
The degree to which dogs require, differs from one breed to another. Each day, they may need increased hours of interaction and fun through schooling, exercises and bonding times. If you don't supply it, they find it on their own - and it usually involves chewing or barking. The need to have an open place to run and play for each day is what some other dog breeds would call for. These kinds of dogs can really become best buddies of your children. It doesn't usually mean that if a certain dog is fond of playing with older kids, they too, would enjoy the company of younger ones or toddlers for an instance. You merely need to know what breed of dog is the best match for your home, household and available time.
Take your time when visiting pet stores or dog breeders and see to it that you when you visit the dogs, you will spend time drawing together with them so that you will know which kind would really fit you. Leaving the pet store with some animal looking at you with those imploring charming brown eyes and excited bark is indeed a hard thing to do, even so, if you really want to take the pup home, you really want to be sure that it would be the best place he could call a home and not merely another wrong house to reside. You may want to leave the kids home when you go back to visit the dog and get more facts about the dog's history, conduct and demands.
