How To Exercise Options
Mark Jackson
Yoga is a combination of breathing and stretching to relax the body. Different poses are used to achieve this state. There are different levels of yoga, from beginner to advanced, and there is even a series out for plus-sized yoga fanatics. As in all exercises, it begins with a warm-up, then the workout, and ends in a cool down. Yoga adds a period of deep relaxation at the end to clear the mind as the body is stretched and at ease.
Aerobics are one of the best forms of exercise for the body. It benefits the heart and muscles and aids in stress reduction. There are a few types of aerobics to choose from. Step aerobics merges choreography with music and varying intensifying cardio exercises. Dance aerobics takes regular step aerobics and pairs it with hip hop music and dance. There is also water aerobics, done in a pool with float belts for resistance.
Home gyms have become quite popular in the past few years, with different exercise machines such as stationary bicycles, elliptical machines, and treadmills. Nordic Track is a company that produces all of these exercise instruments. A stationary bicycle is simply a bicycle that had been put on a stand so that it is immobile. It has several different speeds and levels of resistance. Elliptical machines work the arms and the legs, with steps that go around like bicycle pedals, and handles that you move in coordination with your steps. Treadmills allow you to walk in place, and like the elliptical and stationary bike, they have varying speeds and levels of resistance.
All of these exercise machines can be found in a public or private gym as well. One benefit to having a gym membership is the use of the staff. You could take classes with others who have the same goal as yourself, or you could make use of a possible personal trainer. Personal trainers suit some people more than others because they either need or desire the more regimented schedule, much like those in the weight loss reality shows.
For maximum weight loss, one should pair diet with exercise. Replace soda with water, sweets with fruits and vegetables, and try to lessen the intake of red meats. There are many diet supplements on the market that offer shakes and snack bars. When exercising, remember to drink plenty of water so that dehydration is avoided. Wear sensible, supportive shoes, and try to listen to your body. Choose the form of exercise that best suits your needs and lifestyle.
