The Nativity is a story about how Mary and Joseph overcame all odds with their faith and courage, despite the dangers brought forth by King Herod to dispose of new born children that he saw as threats to his throne and power. Every Christian knows how Mary was visited by the Angel Gabriel to tell her that she will bear the Son of God and that alone already became a challenge to Mary because women who bear children without a husband are stoned to death. Thankfully, Joseph agreed to marry Mary for the sake of the then unborn Child Jesus. Herod heard of the news that a new born child will grow up to be the new King of Israel and ordered his soldiers to kill every new born child the same day that Jesus was to be born.
