Talking about family, there are generally two kinds that we are all familiar with. A family that is nuclear and the other one being a joint family. The former has a few members, comprising of the father, mother and the children, whereas the latter has members starting form the grand parents continuing till the grandchildren, with the inclusion of uncles, aunts and cousins. Living in a joint family was very prevalent, a few centuries ago. This type of a family, comes with its own set of advantages. There is the love and guidance of the elders, the children grow up never being neglected of the attention of the family members, even though their parents are out to office. They also grow up learning up the family values and traditions from their grandparents. Well,even though there are so many advantages living in a joint family, the people of the 21st Century still prefer to stay in a nuclear family. Well the reason may be many. It could either be due to financial matters or due to some family rivalry. But whatever the case may be, the values and emotions attached to a family remains the same.

Some get very excited talking about their family. The good times that they have spent with their family,the outings that they have been together, the growing up days with their brothers and sisters. The gift that daddy got him/her on birthday, the puddings made by mummy, family picnics on holidays and all those fun times spent together with the family. For the excited lot, there is nothing better than discussing about their family. But at the same time, there are also a few, who gets very emotional talking about their family. These emotions, talk about those tough times, that they have undergone and have also seen their family go through them. But its the family togetherness, during times of crisis that makes them talk of the day even today.

There are many who get nostalgic whenever they talk about their family. This feeling has also been expressed by many famous poets and writers in their poems. They undergo such a feeling due to their long stay away from home and their family. Staying alone makes one independent, but staying away from ones family, is a reason alone to make one physically and mentally fatigue. Not all are strong enough to undergo such a thing.

Well, among all this, there are also a few who do not prefer to talk about their family. There could be several reason behind this. It could either be that, the family members have never been good to them or may be they have paid a lot of attention to the other sibling. In some cases it could also be that, they have been a part of a broken family, which have left them with very less to talk about. Reasons could be several.

Generally speaking,a family is an institution of love and care. This is one place where the family members, learn the value of staying together and respecting each others feelings. It is in this institution itself, that the children grow up, learning the importance of being with their loved ones, in good as well as bad times. The concept of family is basically like a well grown tree which looks fresh and good with all its branches in place. But the moment, some of the parts start decaying,the entire tree looses its charm and worth. Something very similar, is applied to a family which looks good and complete with all its members staying happily together, but the moment there is feud or a breakup in the family due to some personal reasons, the family automatically looses the charm and shine that it once had. Nobody would ever deny the fact that, in staying together is where the real charm and glow of a family lies. But modernity has so very badly taken over the present generation that they hardly pay heed to all this, and living on their own, with their own terms and conditions is what they love. It is yet again a pitiable condition, where children leave their old parents to live on their own. They never realize the pain and hard work that the parents might have put in, to keep the family tree growing. Unlucky are the ones who do not realize the importance of a family. They do that only when they have a family of their own. This is when they regret on what they had done, but the regret comes very late. Lucky are the ones who stay and pray with their family. After all ?the family that prays together,stays together.?
