Nintendo, the makers of the Wii, said "we're doing everything possible" to keep up with high demand. Nintendo has made an extra 3.5 million consoles for Christmas.

"The demand for Wii hardware has been higher than Nintendo could ever have anticipated," said a spokeswoman.
Because of the demand for the Wii, some retailers are selling it for nearly double the usual retail price.
