A picnic table may not actually add property value to your home in dollars and cents, but it adds sentimental value and togetherness time that can't be quantified in cold, hard cash.

There's no need to hit up fancy baby boutiques to get the basics - discount stores have a wide variety of furniture to fit any dcor and can look just as nice in your baby room. Do a survey of family and friends who have older kids and might be wanting to get rid of their old nursery decorations - these hand-me-downs can be a real budget saver. Don't forget to also check out baby registries at chain stores. Many people now register for babies the way they register for weddings - this helps ensure that you get what you really need instead of frou-frou you don't really want.
Once your budgetary restraints are under control, you can tackle the fun stuff - coming up with a theme for the nursery decoration. If you know if you are having a boy or a girl, you can be led in your decorating by this knowledge. Of course, if you don't, or even if you do, gender based nursery decorating is not required. You can choose literally any theme that you want in decorating your nursery. While some people want the nursery to fit in with the dcor of the rest of their home, others use the nursery as an interior design playground, where fanciful ideas out of place in the rest of the home can come alive. Make use of the internet and magazines to get the creative juices flowing.
