Condos are convenient and an affordable alternative to the traditional house. Unfortunately, while condo living may boast several positive attributes, one major drawback is space. Unless you've found a gem (and haven't paid through the nose for it), the vast majority of condos are far smaller than other housing options. So what do you do with all of your stuff?
While the obvious answer would be to get rid of it, let's face it. This is easier said than done. Here are some things you can do instead:
* Create space by being creative. In recent years, businesses have seen the demand for home organization products and services. With a few simple additions to your closets or shelves, you can increase their storage capacity multi-fold. Shelving can be installed on bare walls, and you can even purchase pieces of furniture that double up as places to store your stuff.
* If the stuff you need to store is only used infrequently, you may want to consider selling the items and buying their replacement when they're needed. This is particularly useful for seasonal sports equipment, like skis and skates. These items can be replaced with a better model that's on the market in the following year.
* If you just can't fit all of your stuff in your place, then consider renting storage. From a small locker to a huge room that can accommodate a car, there are all types of storage options to choose from. And remember: it's always best to find somewhere near your condo or work so that getting to your stuff isn't such a big deal.
