The Slippery Slope may be a fallacy in logic, but it certainly is not in fitness.
Have you ever had one of those slippery slope moments?
Maybeyour going over to your family potluck, you feel good and have had agreat day. You got some exercise in the early morning at 6AM and you'veeaten several quality meals since then.
All of a sudden you reachthe gathering inside you see tables and trays and masses of sweets,candy, your favorite foods, goodies galore.
The feasting begins,you see everyone else going to town you get in line to get a fewsnacks, then your favorite uncle offers you a try of his famouswolfberry pie.
(Yes, wolfberry is an actual berry)
In amoment of weakness you wolf down that wolfberry pie, then out of theside of your eye you catch a glimpse of your sister's cookies. You thendive into that bag of cookies. Grandma's spaghetti is right in front ofyou, that sounds good too.
It is a slippery slope from there, inthat once you pop you can't stop type of thing. A temporary loss ofself control can result in a day long binge or even a weekend eatingfest.
You see, once you are on that slope, it just keeps goingdown hill from there. In the case of eating, the slippery slopecertainly is valid and true. The first step of tempting food can andwill lead to subsequent steps that cannot be prevented.
Thesimple solution, don't approach the crest of the hill, stay back, andresist that first urge even if it is done in innocence.
Do youever feel like you are on a slippery slope in life. One slip afteranother leading you down a slippery slope into greater confusion and noresults in your fitness program. Continuous accountability can keep youup on your feet moving forward every single day of the week and livinga better life.
The key to successful weight loss is not suddenand dramatic shifts in weight. Even if you lose 1 ounce a week, justthat little amount, continued over time, you will achieve your goal.Though it may seem little, consistency is the key.
No matter howmuch you lose each week as long as you keep going, keep at it, justnever stop, you're going to reach your fitness goals. Here's a littlesomething to live by, "The best way to become unstoppable is to refuseto stop." Don't ever give up on your fitness goals - keep going -Always!!
