The Getty Museum is open seven days a week (except on major holidays). It opens at 10:00am and closes at 6:00pm during the week and at 9:00pm on weekends. The museum recommends its visitors to carpool because of a lack of parking in the garage. Parking fees are $8 per vehicle.
The Getty Museum is currently displaying ?The Marvel and Measure of Peru: Three Centuries of Visual History, 1550-1880.? The last day of this exhibit is October 19, 2008. Other exhibits include, ?Maria Sibylla Merian & Daughters: Women of Art and Science,? ?Bernd and Hilla Becher: Basic Forms,? and ?August Sander: People of the Twentieth Century.? They will be introducing a new exhibit on August 5 called ?Bernini and the Birth of Baroque Portrait Sculpture.?
Schools are welcome to plan visits to the Getty Museum. It is a great place for field trips. The museum offers a ?Guided Lesson? by a museum educator for all classes. Students can take workshops and ?professional development programs? and teachers can explore the Getty's many visual art lesson plans.
Any visitor can take advantage of the Getty's bookstore. It offers wonderful books that highlight many of the museums exhibits. The bookstore's current ?hot item? for sale is Bernini and the Birth of Baroque Portrait Sculpture, edited by Andrea Bacchi, Catherine Hess, and Jennifer Montagu.
The Getty Museum is proud to have a foundation that issues grants to artists in Los Angeles. Be a part of the Getty Museum's community by visiting the Museum and by visiting www.getty.edu.
