We must learn to accept this universal truth, now is all there ever is. Nothing else exist, besides from this present moment. When you spend your time thinking about the past or the future, you are in a fantasy land. Our mind is very powerful and can make your thoughts of the past seem very real. Through the power of our mind, we can make the past feel very real, however it is not real.
When you can allow yourself to be present in any given moment, you have the potential to experience deep inner peace. You have the power to experience an abundance of joy, love and total inner peace and fulfillment.
Many people continue to live the same scenarios over and over again, because they are constantly thinking about the past. Whatever you think about, you bring about. You will naturally create, in your life, whatever your consistent dominant thoughts are. If you continue to focus on past events in your life, you will continue to recreate situations that are similar to what you are thinking about.
Every moment that you spend in your head thinking about the past or possible futures, you are missing what is happening in your life, at the present moment. Most people miss the majority of their life, because they were not present in many of the moments in their life. They were either wishing things were the way they used to be or having thoughts of regret about their past. Or they were wishing things were different by fantasizing about a possible future. The future is not real and will not be real, until it becomes the present moment.
I have heard people say that all we have is our memories. I strongly disagree with that statement. I say all that we have is this present moment, right now. Now is all that matters. Every time we get too caught up in our memories, good or bad, we are missing this present moment. Every moment lost can never be recaptured.
If you are ready to start living abundantly in the present moment, then start appreciating every moment. Start feeling gratitude in every single moment of your life. Be present, put all of your focus on the sights, smells and feelings that are right in front of you and within you at every moment.
You will notice your whole world change, when you continue to practice being present on a consistent basis. When you are present the whole world around you becomes more alive. Colors become brighter, food tastes better, intimacy feels more intense, feelings become stronger, everything is more alive, because you are more alive. The only way to feel truly alive is to be completely present. This is what happens to great athletes, artists, musicians and performers. By being completely and totally focused on their task in the present moment, all of their senses are experienced at a heightened state.
Experience every moment of your life with a feeling of gratitude. Constantly, throughout your day, say in your head or out loud, "Thank you for this moment". "Now is all there is, I am this moment", is a wonderful quote from the movie 'The Peaceful Warrior'. You are this moment, now, enjoy it and live fully and graciously. Remember, now is called the present, because it is a gift. Be grateful for your present.
