The reality television show Rock of Love continues to come out on top of the ratings for VH1, which series star Bret Michaels attributes to what he calls its truthful depictions of the life he leads. Michaels says that the show, which features 25 eligible single women competing for the attention and affection of the 44-year-old rock star, has found moderate success and was the number one reality series for over three weeks. During a telephone interview with the Post Standard, he said that while he was doing the reality show, he was not acting and that he was being truly himself. He stated that he would get up in the mornings, just take his insulin and simply move forward with the day as usual.
Additionally, he also stated that people could smell that it was a true reality show, and claimed that his life runs throughout a wide span of various emotions in the course of a single day. That's why it was so successful, according to him. He has also described Rock of Love as being part survival, and part extreme dating. One week after the other during the course of the show, he tested the women with a variety of challenges. Among these have been phone sex, composing lyrics and performing music, a football competition in the mud, and a photo shoot.
With only five women remaining, Michaels has remained secretive about which of them he truly feels attracted and connected to, if any. He said that it eventually became a ?bittersweet battle? between the two that he liked the most, though he wouldn't say more beyond that. On the other hand, he did reveal that his favorite episodes were the ones that featured football and motocross riding. He considers both to be his two greatest hobbies, and he credited the women for participating and for being great sports all throughout, even when some of them were injured.
